Jeff Stout

Frontier distributes its products through a nation-wide channel of Solution Partners and Jeff Stout, Vice President of Channel Development, is the person who oversees this channel. I sat down with him for a few minutes for a quick Q&A to get to know him better and hear his insights into the industry.

Q: How long have you been with Frontier?

A: I’ve been with Frontier since January, 2014, and have over 20 years’ experience in the security industry.

Q: What is the biggest change you have seen in the security industry over the last few years?

A: The strong migration into the IT space has been the most significant change in the last few years. Physical and logical security are often managed by the same people in an organization. The shift of manufacturing to adapt accepted networking protocols instead of relying on proprietary communications has led to more robust and powerful security systems.

Q: What is the biggest challenge facing end users right now?

A: End users are inundated with complicated software that has very little design consideration around their workflow and business processes. The long training cycle for most enterprise class systems present challenges to organizations that see high turnover in 3rd party contract security officers. In addition, access to the most critical information can sometimes require multiple tabs and/or multiple programs to be opened, delaying response when it might be critical.

Q: What do you like most and least about working in this industry?

A: I like that this industry gives you an opportunity to help people and organizations secure the people who occupy their facilities. I also like to be able to utilize technology to help create a sense of well being and safety for a variety of different organizations. The security industry has been very slow to adapt to new technologies while other industries have prospered by rethinking almost everything, that is one of the most frustrating things I have encountered in my career.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: I enjoy travel and most any sporting event.

Q: What good book or movie have you read or seen lately that you would recommend?

A: I would definitely recommend Unbroken, it is a tremendous story of courage about Louis Zamperini.
